In the 1969-70 general renumbering it became 3101 and after mid-June 1972 it was repainted into yellow warbonnet. In March 1978 the San Bernardino CA shops rebuilt it as a GP20u and renumbered it 3001. After the merger it was transferred to BNSF on Sept 22 1995 and renumbered 2001. CRIP 4346
Title:  CRIP 4346
Description:  ENID OK April 13 1980 -- CRIP GP38-2 4346 is tied up at the Enid engine facility. This unit wears the name Navajo Nation. A quick trip to the Rock Island Technical site revealed this unit was originally named Senior Traveling Freight Agent. That name "recognized John W. Barriger, the widely respected rail official who was brought aboard to help turn the Rock Island around. The locomotive was to be named for Barriger, but he requested this name as an alternative. After John Barriger's death, locomotive 4346 was renamed Navaho Nation in June 1977. Navajo track crews, particularly rail relay gangs, handled much of the rebuilding efforts on the Sunbelt [Choctaw Route] line, and the Golden State line." (quote taken from RITS web site)

NCOK 2873 (Re-scan)
Title:  NCOK 2873 (Re-scan)
Description:  ENID OK Jan 10 1982 -- North Central Oklahoma Railroad RS36 2873 sits in bitter cold at the Santa Fe yard. The ambient temperature this day was around -20F. Both my electronic Asahi Pentax KX cameras froze up. I turned to my trusty Honeywell Pentax SP500 and it produced this picture. Yes, I did use a polarizer. The NCO existed from 1982 to 1985 and is now the Austin, Todd & Ladd Railroad but the AT&L does not roster this unit. Web site http://www.fl9.com/ records "Prior to arriving in Oklahoma, this 1800-hosepower unit was one of only forty of this model built by ALCO, and served as the Norfolk & Western 2873 after starting its life as the Nickel Plate 873." According to http://www.trainweb.org/jaydeet/rs32_36.htm ALCO built the NKP 873 in July 1962.
