UTAH 402 Hiawatha UT
Title:  UTAH 402 Hiawatha UT
Description:  HIAWATHA UT Aug 22 1981 -- Utah Railway RSD15 402 and two sisters smoke it up as they begin to pull on a cut of cars at the Hiwatha loudout. Trailing unit 403 belches the most smoke and puts much of the area in shadow. The sound was incredible. According to utahrails.net alligator 402 was built for the Santa Fe in May 1960 as no. 9839. It made its way via Precision National in Illinois to the Utah Railway as no. 402 on Oct. 28, 1975. It was placed in service on Oct. 31, 1975. Its last day of service on the Utah was May 13, 1982. It was retired May 14, 1982 and sold for scrap in November 1983 to Industrial Salvage & Metals (Salt Lake City UT) where it was scrapped in early January 1984.

Title:  UTAH 403 Martin UT
Description:  MARTIN UT Oct 5 1978 -- Utah Railway RSD15 403 awaits its next assignment at the engine facility in Price. Information taken from utahrails.net indicates unit 403 was built as ATSF 9847 in June 1960. It was sold to Utah Railway on Oct. 28 1975 and was retired May 14 1982. It was sold for scrap in November 1983 to Industrial Salvage & Metals (Salt Lake City UT). It was scrapped in early January 1984.

ATSF 9818
Title:  ATSF 9818
Description:  CLEBURNE TX June 4 1978 -- Santa Fe RSD15 9818 rests in retirement at the Cleburne shops. The scrappers torch is yet to come as this alligator is used for valuable parts. Alco built the 9818 (s/n 83477) in June 1959 as ATSF 818 and delivered it in zebra stripe paint. After being repainted into Santa Fe blue with yellow ends it was renumbered to ATSF 9818 on Nov 28 1969. It was laid up pending disposition at San Bernardino CA and was retired March 26 1974. ATSF 9820
Title:  ATSF 9820
Description:  ALBUQUERQUE NM Sept 11 1980 -- I shot Santa Fe RSD15 9820 in the roundhouse at Albuquerque where it was stored for preservation. Alco built the unit as ATSF 820 on June 26 1959. It burned at Needles Ca in July 1969 and was rebuilt, repainted and renumbered to 9820 by Oct 10 1969. It was retired to perserved storage Aug 31 1972 and sent to the California State Railroad Museum, with other preserved locomotives, in Sacramento in March 1986. (Roster information from atsfrr.net) As of June 2010 it was in the former SP erecting shop at CSRM and was not on display..
