ATSF 8000
NORMAN OK April 1977 -- In this grab shot Santa Fe U30CG 8000 leads a train west (compass south) toward downtown Norman. The third unit in consist is also a U30CG. The area in foreground is now part of a park which stretches along the tracks. GE built this unit in November 1967 as ATSF 400. It was delivered in passenger war bonnet but was reasigned to freight service and lost its steam generator in 1969. It was renumbered 8000 in the 1969-70 general renumbering. It went back to GE in 1980.
