Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK Sept 4 1978 -- Running in numerical order Santa Fe C3-7s 8024 and 8025 are only a few months old as they haul train 513 eastbound (compass north) on the elevated through downtown. GE built the units in March 1978. The 5024 was laid up bad ordered in Topeka KS in June 1992 and retired that year. It went to Pielet Brothers intended and to Conrail as CRL 510 in 94-95 and went to Cycle Systems in 1997 where it was scrapped. Description:  BELVA OK April 27 1980 -- Santa Fe C30-7 8035 rounds the curve at Belva on a westbound train. GE built the unit in June 1978. It was leased to GE before December 1989 and then traded to GE in December 1989. In July 1996 it was sold to Cycle Systems and scrapped.

Description:  BELEN NM Oct 2 1982 -- With a wave from a crew member Santa Fe C30-7 8040 leads a TOFC-COFC train. GE built the locomotive in June 1978. Santa Fe retired the unit in November 1992 and sent it back to GE. It then went to Conrail where it was rebuilt, renumbered and repainted to CRL 422. It went to GE lease in January 1999, to Helm before March 1999 and finally to Fadale and Associates Inc as FAIX 3609 later in 1999. (Roster information from atsfrr.net)

Description:  YESO NM Sept 25 1988 -- BNSF C30-7 8082 and three other units put on a smoke show on the Transcon. The lead unit was built by GE in May 1979. It was retired in June 1994. (Roster information from atsfrr.net) Yeso is a ghost town on U.S. 60 and has several crumbling buildings. In Spanish the name means gypsum. The town was established with the arrival of the ATSF 1906.

Description:  UMBARGER TX Oct 8 1988 -- Santa Fe SD45-2u 5824, SD45-2B 5514 and C30-7 8112 lead a TOFC train on the journey west to Clovis NM for refueling and a new crew. EMD built the 5824 in May 1972 as ATSF 5632 (s/n 7391-8) in blue with yellow ends. After Aug 26 1972 it was repainted blue with yellow warbonnet. In July 1986 it was rebuilt at the San Bernardino CA shops to an SD45-2u, renumbered 7224 and repainted in proposed Southern Pacific-Santa Fe red and yellow merger paint. After the merger was rejected it was renumbered 5824 and, before January 1991, it was repainted yellow warbonnet. In April 1994 it underwent maintenance at Morrison-Knudsen. It was transferred to BNSF on Sept 22 1995. On Feb 1 2000 it was patched and renumbered BNSF 6474. Description:  ABO NM July 6 1986 -- The desert is green and the sky stretches forever at Santa Fe C30-7 d8146 leads an SD 40-2 and two SD45s on the Tanscon. GE built the 8146 (s/n 43573) as an RCE Locotrol master in June 1981 and delivered it in yellow warbonnet. As part of the proposed merger of Santa Fe and Southern Pacific it was painted in SPSF red and yellow warbonnet sometime between July 31 1985 and July 7 1986. It was retired in SPSF paint, leased to GE in December 1989 and was placed in the GECX lease fleet. It was leased by Union Pacific between Feb 20 1990 and March 4 1990 and carried the number UPL 8146. It was later leased by BNSF, patched and renumbered to BNSF 5189 while still in SPSF paint. It is listed as being Laid up pending disposition at Pasco WA in April 1999. A Gene Crossett photo shows it in West Burlington IL and reports it went to National Railway Equipment Co in June 2002. It is also listed on the April 19 2012 Minnesota Commercial Motive Power roster as No (MNNR) 56.
