Description:  PURCELL OK August 1977 -- Freshly outshopped Santa Fe CF7 2448 leads a northbound mixed freight as it enters the yard. The 2448 started life at EMD as a passenger F7A. Title:  ATSF 2455
Description:  GUTHRIE OK March 26 1979 -- Santa Fe CF7 2455 handles switching duties in this one-time capital of Oklahoma. The crew has tied it up just south of the station. EMD built this unit (s/n 13787) in May 1951 as F7A 252L and delivered it in blue with cream and vermillion trim paint. On June 7 1977 the Cleburne TX shops rebuilt it as a CF7 in blue with yellow warbonnet and renumbered it 2455. It was retired in early 1982, sold to Southwestern Rail Car Parts in January 1983 and scrapped. Description:  EDMOND OK Sept 4 1978 -- Santa Fe CF7 2472 has charge of Work Train 1. EMD built the unit as F7A 238L (s/n 9599in April 1950 and delivered it in blue with cream yellow trim. On Dec 31 1976 the Cleburne TX shops rebuilt it as a CF7 with a round roof and renumbered it ATSF 2472. It was acquired by General Electric in December 1984, sold to the Blue Mountain and Reading RR and renumbered BMRG 2472 in March 1985. After being sold to National Railway Equipment Co it was sold to IMC Fertilizer and renumbered IMC 204. Description:  NORMAN OK September 1978 -- This undated photo shows Santa Fe CF7 2472 laying over in downtown Norman. It headed up the local from Nowers and will return to Nowers in the morning as the trailing unit. EMD built the unit as F7A 238L (s/n 9599in April 1950 and delivered it in blue with cream yellow trim. On Dec 31 1976 the Cleburne TX shops rebuilt it as a CF7 with a round roof and renumbered it ATSF 2472. It was acquired by General Electric in December 1984, sold to the Blue Mountain and Reading RR and renumbered BMRG 2472 in March 1985. Description:  UMBARGER TX Jan 23 1984 -- Santa Fe CF7 2477 and GP7u 2021 lead a mixed freight on the Transcon. Santa Fe built the 2477 as F7A 225C (s/n 8937) and delivered it in blue with vermillion and cream trim. On July 29 1976 the Cleburne TX shops rebuilt it to a rounded cab roof CF7, renumbered it 2477 and painted it blue with yellow warbonnet. It was later rebuilt with a "Cleburne" angled cab roof. It was retired July 31 1986 sold to Tennken Railroad Inc on Aug 5 1986 as TKEN 2477, sold to Nashville & Eastern Railroad Corp as NERR 2477 in September 1986, sold to Caroline & Northwestern Ry as no. 477, sold to Rail Link as RLIX 477 and finally been sold to Joseph Transportation Co as JTPX 477 and scrapped in 2005. Description:  PURCELL OK September 1977 -- Santa Fe CF7 2486 was built by EMD (s/n 13728) in August 1951 as F7A 259 C and delivered in blue and cream yellow. In January 1975 the Cleburne TX shops rebuilt it as a CF7 with the Cleburne angled cab roof and renumbered it 2486. It was retired on Jan 9 1986, sold to The Blue Mountain & Reading in September 2986 as BMRG 2486, later sold to Aberdeen & Rock Fish RR Co. as AR 2486 and then sold to Pee Dee River RR Corp as PDRR 2486. Title:  ATSF 2591
Description:  NORMAN OK July 18 1980 -- If only they were still F units. A crew member is on the ground preparing to give a rollby inspection to a westbound (compass south) train on the main line. Santa Fe CF7 2591 is in charge of this eastbound (compass north) mixed freight. The 2591 was originally F7A 235L built by EMD in April 1950. It was rebuilt into a CF7 at the Cleburne (Texas) shops Dec 7 1972. It was retired Oct 13 1986, sold to National Railroad Equipment Dec 7 1987, sold to Midsouth Rail Corp. (KCS) mid-December 1987 as MSRC 7005, sold to Kansas City Southern Jan 1994 as KCS 7005, and sold to Louisiana & Delta in February 1994 as LDRR 7005. (Roster information from atsfrr.net)

Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK Mar 23 1975 -- CF7 2639 awaits its next assignment on the elevated tracks just south of the Amtrak depot. Note the blue number board and rounded cab roof. Some thought these units were monstrosities but I really lliked them.
