ATSF 3803
Title:  ATSF 3803
Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK Aug 21 1982 -- A pair of Santa Fe GP40Xs (3803 and 3802) lead a piggyback train west (compass south) through Burnett. EMD built the GP40X series to test improvements slated for the GP50 and SD50 series. The 3803 was built April 1978. Between July 31 1985 and July 24 1986 it was repainted into failed-merger SPSF colors. It regained its yellow warbonnet before Oct 1 1990. On Sept 22 1995 it was renumbered and patched to BNSF 3033. ATSF 3809
Title:  ATSF 3809
Description:  NORMAN OK May 1982 -- The Oklahoma Highway 9 overpass in south Norman affords a good view of Santa Fe GP40X 3809, GP50 3817, GP50 3824 leading an all piggyback westbound (compass south) train. I suspect this is train 185 but I did not label the slide and I forgot to date the slide. Doh! GM built the 3809 in May 1978 as a testbed for the 50 series. It became BNSF 3039 on March 12 1998 with the BN-ATSF merger. (Roster information from atsfrr.net)
