BUTTE MT Sept 26 1978 -- Burlington Northern GP30 2206 is idled by a nationwide railroad strike. EMD built the unit (s/n 28267) in April 1963 as Great Northern 3006 and delivered in simple Empire Builder paint. BN retired it on Dec 14 1988. In July 1989 was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen as BN GP39M 2812 and became BNSF 2812. PORTLAND OR May 22 1984 -- Burlington Northern GP30 BN 2219 awaits its next assignment. EMD delivered the unit to CB&Q in April 1962 as CB&Q 942. It was repainted and renumbered as BN 2219 in 1970 after the BN merger. In October 1989 Morrison-Knudsen rebuilt it into GP39M BN 2828. In June 2001 it became BNSF 2828.
