Title:  MKT (OKT) 3109
Description:  EL RENO OK June 17 1984 -- Oklahoma Kansas Texas 3109's crew has cutoff from their train and gone to lunch. I believe this unit is CR 3109 which became MKT 235, then UP 670 and finally UP 9953. Please correct me if I am wrong. MKT 175
Title:  MKT 175
Description:  DALLAS TX May 27 1985 -- Katy GP40 175 awaits an assignment. EMD built the 175 (s/n 32127) in August 1966 and delivered it in red. After being wrecked it was retired on Feb 28 1989, sold to Morrison Knudsen on May 22 1990, and by Feb 9 1991 was rebuilt to Southern Pacific GP40-2 7298 in grey and red. After the UP merger it was patched and renumbered 1533. It was later painted UP yellow. MKT 178
Title:  MKT 178
Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK Dec 18 1983 -- MKT GP40 178 poses for a roster shot at the former Rock Island’s Harter Yard. At this time the facility was operated by the Oklahoma Kansas Texas (a Katy subsidiary) It was taken over successively by MOP and UP. The 178 delivered in MKT red paint by EMD in August 1966. It was leased to NdeM from October 1989 to April 1990, stored unserviceable at Fort Worth TX. and sold to Helm Financial. It was scrapped Oct 23 1991. (Roster information from utahrails.net)

Description:  DENISON TX January 1975 -- A crewman climbs aboard MKT GP40 187. EMD built the 187 (b/n 33479) in September 1967. It was retired and returned to EMD on August 28 1989, was rebuilt by VMV (Paducah KY) in early 1990, gained EMD blue and whipe paint and entered EMDs lease fleet as EMDX 187. Description:  McALESTER OK April 1977 -- Katy GP40 202 handles a cut of cars as it goes about itp switching duties. EMD built the 202 (s/n 34085) in August 1968. On June 9 1989, after being acquired by the Union Pacific, it was renumbered UP 508. It was retired on Oct 9 1992 and sold to Railtex for zse on the Missouri & Northern Arkansas as MNO 508. In March 1996 it was transferred to Dallas Garland & NorthEastern and was renumbered 4025 in in March 1999. Title:  MKT 205 at Tower 55
Description:  FORT WORTH TX May 26 1985 -- Katy GP40 205 crosses the diamonds at Tower 55. EMD built the 205 (s/n 34088) in August 1968 and delivered it in red. This unit was the first GP40 to be repainted in the green and yellow scheme. After the merger it became UP 511 on Jan 8 1990, was retired Oct 9 1992 and then acquired by Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railway in late 1992 as MNA 511 and later MNA 4010. Leroy Brandenburg shot the 4010 on May 17 2012 in red and grey. It was retired as MKT 210 and sold to Phoenix Railway Corp (Spokane WA) in February 1992 but the sale was rescinded. It was sold to Pielet Brothers Scrap Iron and Metal (McCook IL) on March 27 1992. Description:  MUSKOGEE OK June 1976 -- MKT GP40 214 awaits its crew in this undated photo. Note the newspaper just below the rear wheel on the lead truck. Now thats service. EMD built the 214 in November 1969. on March 19 1990 it became UP 584 when UP absorbed the Katy. It was sold to Helm Financial May 29 1998, rebuilt to a GP38-2 and leased to UP as 2558 on Dec 2 1998. MKT 3109
Title:  MKT 3109
Description:  OKARCHE OK Jan 17 1983 -- Katy 3109 and GP40 171 are switching cars at a bulk loading facility. This was the Rock Islands north-south line which Katy took over and operated a the Missouri Kansas Texas. EMD built the 3109 (s/n 34286) For Penn Central as PC 3109 in August 1968 and later became Conrail 3109. Katy acquired it after the Conrail lease expired and renumbered it MKT 235. This photo shows the unit patched for MKT but not yet renumbered. When Union Pacific took over it became UP 670 on May 19 1990 and was to be renumbered UP 9953 to free up the number for a GP38-2. UP retired the 670 on April 18 2000. It was photographed by Brandon Warnick in Paducah KY on Oct 1 2011 and was reported by Mark Gillings as en route to Progress Rail in Tacoma WA on March 24 2012.
