(unknown) CA June 30 1986 -- An SD40T-2 leads an SD45T-2 on a mixed freight. Unit 8248 was built in April 1980 and stricken from the roster when it was sold to Larrys Truck and Electric in July 2003. Back when this pic was taken I thought the location was Tubre CA. Since I find no listing of such a location I was probably loopy. Im certain this photo was taken somewhere south of San Francisco and north of Bakersfield. Help me out if you can. |

ALRAY CA Sept 7 1983 -- This SD40T-2 and three other tunnel motors are hauling an autorack train. Visible above the rear of the lead unit are balloons and a man in shorts. While we were perched in the rocks he drove up in a van with awell-dressed woman. He set up an eifht-foot table and attached balloons to it. After about 30 minutes of wandering around looking at the setup with the woman posing (clothed) he packed up and left. Darned if I know what he was doing. Maybe he was hoping we would leave. |
