PORTLAND OR Aug 20 1981 -- Union Pacific NW2 1040 idles at Albina Yard with the Fremont Bridge in the background. EMD built the unit in June 1946 (b/n 3426) and retired June 1 1984. It was retired on April 14 1985 and sold for scrap to St Louis Auto Shredding (East St Louis IL) on Jan 8 1988.
