Title:  ATSF 5139
Description:  NORMAN OK February 1986 -- Santa Fe SD40-2 5139 approaches the East Brooks Street crossing on its way east (compass north) with seven other units and a mixed freight in rapidly fading afternoon light. EMD built the 5139 in December 1980 as an RCE receiver with a 123-inch snoot nose to house the extra radio equipment. It underwent maintenance at Morrison Knudsen in 1984. In December 1999 it became BNSF 6867 and wore H1 Paint. (Date approximate, roster information from atsfrr.net)

Description:  Vaughn NM Sept 25 1988 -- Santa Fe SD40-2 5149 pulls a TOFC train past the station on its way east to Clovis on the Transcon. The 5149 was built by EMD in September 1980. it was renumbered and repainted to BNSF 6877 in H1 paint on June 13 1998. (Roster information from atsfrr.net)

For those who recognize the name Ken Fitzgerald, his apartment is to my right on the ground floor. Trainwatching for him was as easy as looking out the bedroom window.

Title:  ATSF 5163
Description:  UMBARGER TX Jan 23 1984 -- Santa Fe SD40-2 5163 holds the main with a TOFC train. EMD built the 5163 (s/n 796386-23) in October 1980 and delivered it in yellow warbonnet. After being wrecked in 1989 it was rebuilt at Topeka KS on Dec 30 1991 and then underwent maintenance at Morrison Knudsen in April 1994. It was transferred to BNSF on Sept. 22 1995 and on Feb 27 2000 was patched and renumbered 6891. In July 2000 it was repainted in the BNSF Heritage One colors. Description:  FORT WORTH TX May 26 1985 -- Missouri Pacific SD40-2C 6000 is well-placed for a roster shot. EMD built the 6000 to BN specifications for unit coal train services as MP 3216 (s/n 756145-1) in July 1976. After the Mop-UP merger it became UP 3900 on July 24 1986. It was retired on Feb 1 1994, returned to owner/lessor GAT and entered national lease service as GATX 900. Description:  FORT WORTH TX May 27 1985 -- Missouri Pacific SD40-2 6009 bangs over the diamonds at Tower 55. EMD built the 6009 (s/n 766005-5) as MP 3225 in September 1976. On June 6 1986 it became UP 3909 and on Jan 28 2003 became WP 3909 to clear the 3900 series for the new SD70Ms. It was retired on Jan 30 2002. It was later renumbered BNSF 1681 and wears H1 paint.
