DENVER COL Oct 4 1982 -- Rio Grande SW 1000 144 (foreground center) awaits an assignment. EMD built the 1434 (s/n 32179) in October 1966. Union Pacific retired it on July 14 1998 and it was never assigned a UP number. It was sold to Midwest Metallics McCook, IL in July 1998 but the sale was rescinded. It returned to UP at Omaha NB on June 19 1999, was sold to General Electric Technical Services and used at GEs contract (former C&NW) shop in Council Bluffs IA. It eventually went to Larrys Truck Electric Service as LTEX 1001.
