Title:  MKT 362
Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK June 17 1984 -- MKT GP39-2 362 and Conrail GP38-2 8103 haul an OKT train under I-235 eastbound on the way to the Former Rock Island‚Äôs Harter Yard. EMD delivered the 362 in April 1984. It became UP 2361 on May 25 1990 after Katy was absorbed by Union Pacific. On Sept 30 2003 it was renumbered to UP 1211. (Roster information from utahrails.net)

Description:  FORT WORTH TX May 26 1985 -- Katy GP39-2 381 was built by EMD for Kennicott Copper (s/n 766028-2) on January 1977 as KCC 780. It was removed from service on Sept 19 1983 and Katy acquired it in 1984. After UP absorbed the Katy it became UP 2351 on June 25 1990. On Nov 11 2003 it was renumbered UP 1208. Description:  VANCOUVER WA March 9 2012 -- The crew gets off to handle switches as BNSF GP39-2 2959 stops short of the yard office. The unit was delivered to Santa Fe in May 1979 as phase IIB ATSF GP39-2 3684 serial number 786224-2. It was renumbered BNSF 2959, patched and transferred to BNSF on Sept 22 1995 after the BN-ATSF merger. (Roster information from trainpix.com and atsfrr.net)

ATSF 3600, first-in-class unit
Title:  ATSF 3600, first-in-class unit
Description:  PURCELL OK October 1975 -- ATSF GP39-2 3600, GP20 3106 and GP20 3119 lead a southbound mixed freight under the U.S. 77 bridge. EMD built the 3600 (s/n 74602-1) in August 1974 and delivered it in yellow warbonnet. After a time painted in SPSF red and yellow and numbered ATSF 3100 it was returned to yellow warbonnet and renumbered ATSF 3600 before December 1988. It was retired and returned to the lessor in December 1992. The Willamette & Pacific Railroad Co. acquired it in June 1993 and it became WPRR 2301. In 2000 it became Portland & Northwestern 2301. It is painted orange and black and is named Sheridan. EMD built the 3627 (s/n 74664-11) in February 1975 and delivered it in yellow warbonnet. After a time renumbered SPSF 3127 but not repainted. In January 1987 The Cleburne TX shops rebuilt it as a GP39-2u and renumbered it 3410. After the BNSF merger it was patched and renumbered 2779. Description:  NORMAN OK June 3 1978 -- Santa Fe GP39-2 3631 overtakes train 563 lead by GP38 3556 at the north end of the passing siding in north Norman. Visible in the foreground is all that remains of the lead to the former U.S. Naval Air Station which was known at the time as North Base. EMD built 3631 in February 1975. In August 1986 it was rebuilt into ATSF GP39-2u 3400. It became BNSF 2769 on Feb 9 2000. (Roster information from atsfrr.net)

Description:  HASLET TX March 15 1981 -- Santa FeGP39-2 3696 leads a westbound (compass south) train in the hole and without a crew. EMD built the 3696 (s/n 796314-1) In April 1980 and delivered it in blue with yellow warbonnet. At some time it was painted in SPSF colors but was returned to yellow warbonnet after the proposed merger failed. It was transferred to BNSF on Sept 22 1995 and on March 15 1998 was patched and renumbered BNSF 2950.
