Description:  CLOVIS NM Jan 23 1984 -- Santa Fe SD40-2 5030 accelerates its train east in the first catch of the day -- note our shadows to prove it. EMD built the locomotive in October 1977. It was rebuilt to an SD40-2u in July 1988. On Jan 15 2000 it was relettered and renumbered to BNSF 6345. (Roster information from atsfrr.net)

Description:  NORMAN OK April 11 1980 -- Santa Fe SD40-2 5089 leads TOFC train 185 west (compass south) toward the Brooks Street crossing. An apartment complex to the left and behind this photo was popular with railfans attending the University of Oklahoma. EMD built the 5089 in October 1979, Santa Fe rebuilt it into an SD40-2u in July 1991 and Morrison Knudsen performed maintenance on it in April 1994. On November 4 1998 it became BNSF 6748. Description:  WYNNEWOOD OK May 2 1983 -- Santa Fe SD50-2 5097 blasts south with a mixed freight. EMD delivered the 5097 (s/n 786219-27) in October 1979. The San Bernardino shops rebuilt it as an SD40-2u in April 1991 and it underwent maintenance at Morrison Knudsen in April 1984. After the BNSF merger it was patched and renumbered 6756. It gained BNSF Heritage 1 paint before July 10 2000. According to Russ Strodtz (on Yahoo group LocoNotes) it was renumbered BNSF 1637 On May 11 2011 . Description:  AMARILLO TX July 7 1986 -- Santa Fe SD40-2 5107 handles the lead on a westbound TOFC-COFC train with what I believe to be the welded rail plant in the background. EMD built the 5107 (s/n 786219-37) in October 1979. It was delivered in yellow warbonnet, repainted to SPSF red-yellow between July 31 1985 and July 24 1986 (pre-July 7 for sure), restored to yellow warbonnet before Jan 1 1991, rebuilt by the San Bernardino CA shops to an SD40-2u in June 1991, underwent maintenance at Morrison Knudsen in April 1994, transferred to BNSF on Sept 22 1995 upon the merger, renumbered and patched to BNSF 6766 On Jan 10 2000. It was transferred to BNSF on Sept. 22 1995 and on Feb 27 2000 was patched and renumbered 6891. In July 2000 it was repainted in the BNSF Heritage One colors.
